Proposal for Nicole
Exploration of landscape through the use of pattern and fracturing of the picture plane, and the inclusion of text. I will produce a number of works in acrylic on polyester A1 in size supported by drawings and visual diary.
The starting point for my works will be urban landscapes within my “lockdown” environment. The patterning and fracturing of the image reflects the act of seeing the scenes repeatedly without registering a particular viewing point. Patterning also references the traditional crafts of female homemakers isolated in the domestic environment. The text is associated with our consent digital interaction during lockdown and will subvert the image.
The plasticity of acrylic paint suggests patterning found on household goods. In the text a will explore the different fonts we use for messaging.
